This is the most complex concept…. i have read enough on net and some books but   still i was not getting this concept. i was not understanding how this will effect my c code. But i have did some  experiments with some example code and tried to understand things. and here now i am going to share those examples.

Confusion with megabytes, 1 megabyte is 1 million bytes or 1024 * 1024 (1048576) bytes?

i have two question

1> 1 megabyte is 1 million bytes or 1024 * 1024 (1048576) bytes?  

2> what is the Difference between Mibit/s or Mib/s and MB/s or MBps and Mbit/s, Mb/s and Mbps MiB/s or MiBps?

“MB/s” usually means “megabytes per second”. This can be one of two definitions, depending on who you ask:

1> 1 million bytes per second (8 million bits per second) (per the IEEE’s definition)

OR

• 2> The more commonly seen definition of 1024 * 1024 (1048576) bytes per second (8388608        bits per second), seen commonly in many usages.

In most of the way 1 megabyte = 1024 * 1024 (1048576) bytes were taken in account but few years ago

The IEEE has proposed that computers should follow the SI prefixes, and use “Megabyte” to mean 10^6 bytes, not 2^20 bytes, which has been done historically. And thus created all the confusion over which definition of a megabyte one is actually using.

Samsung is planning to launch 3D Android smartphones next year. Company is actively working on the next generation of 3D technology to integrate in these smartphones, they won’t just provide 3D display, but will also help you play 3D games, record 3D movies and work with 3D TVs.

Apart from these new 3D devices, Samsung might also include the technology in Galaxy S III. According to ETnews, it is however not final till now whether Galaxy S3 will come with 3D or not, but in order to procure 3D components at a major level, Samsung would need six months and that would delay the S3 launch. Thus Galaxy S 3D (tentative name) might be company’s first 3D Android phone, which is expected to launch in Q2, 2012.

Korean publication further stated that Galaxy S III announcement is currently scheduled for Mobile World Congress with availability in April. S3 is expected to feature a quad core processor; but there is no word on other specifications, which we suspect would include Android 4.0 and at least 4.5 inch display.

How to read system command output from Console In C

i want to run a command in linux, and get the text returned of what it outputs…but i DO NOT want this text printed to screen.

So this way you can use to do this.

Here we use popen in read mode

The popen() function shall execute the command specified by the string command. It shall create a pipe between the calling program and the executed command, and shall return a pointer to a stream that can be used to either read from or write to the pipe.

The HTC Incredible S is a beast, but it’s more like one that’s chained and caged. To really feel its power, you need to root it. Surprisingly, it’s quite easy to do so. Here’s how.

First, before you can root your HTC Incredible S, you need to make your device “S-OFF” (this means SECURITY OFF). This allows you to overwrite system files, which is a requirement for rooting.

Requirements:

• HTC Incredible S
• Computer (Your OS must be Linux or Windows)
• USB data cable

To check if your device is S-OFF or S-ON, follow these steps:

1. First, click on Menu. Then tap on Settings > Applications > Turn off Fast Boot.
2. Then, turn off the phone.
3. Hold Volume Down key and Power button simultaneously for a few seconds.
4. This will reboot the phone and show you a white screen with some text. Check the first line to see if the phone is S-OFF or S-ON.
5. Also take note of the number next to HBoot on screen. You will need that information later

Oracle Buys Cloud-based Customer Service Company RightNow For $1.5 Billion

Oracle this morning announced that it has acquired RightNow – both companies are listed on NASDAQ – for $43 per share or roughly $1.5 billion net of RightNow’s cash and debt. With the acquisition, Oracle is adding a robust cloud-based customer service offering (see graph below) to its own Public Cloud solution – more info on that here. RightNow’s share price closed at $35.96 last week, so the deal represents a premium of roughly 20 percent on its closing price on Friday the 21st of October.

Its products are used by nearly 2,000 organizations across the globe, the company says.

Google announces Dart programming language

Google has built a brand-new programming language for ‘structured web programming, one that appears to be suited to browser-based apps. Two of the search giant’s engineers will discuss Dart, Google’s new language, at the Go to international software development conference next month. News of the new language was posted to the Goto website. There aren’t yet any technical details on Dart but the bios of the two Googlers presenting at Goto strongly suggest a bent towards programming for the web and browser

Technical Overview

Dart is a new class-based programming language for creating structured web applications. Developed with the goals of simplicity, efficiency, and scalability, the Dart language combines powerful new language features with familiar language constructs into a clear, readable syntax.

First off: the language comes as a technology preview, it is not yet in Chrome, it comes with syntax familiar to Javascript developers, Erlang-style/Actor-style concurrency. Comes with support to write applications for the iPad.
